ACTUAL KYOTO

Love the vibe and atmosphere. It’s so calm and quiet, and we managed to get there during their opening, so we got the terrace seats. It’s an experience to see the trains pass by while savoring the beautifully plated cheesecakes. We truly enjoyed the matcha cheesecake! A very small space so do be mindful as the waiting line can be quite long during peak periods. Service was friendly, and they’re welcoming to foreigners!

Cute little cafe by the train tracks, stunning light refraction when it passes through. Minimal seats (like 10 people), so it's hard to know when is a good time. Around 1pm on a Saturday had no queue, but by 2pm there was a long queue. Matcha came in a nice big glass, wasn't sweet, but very nice.

Seriously good!! The coffee was very nice and the addition of the basque cheesecake. Interior is pretty cool, and the staff are really friendly! Definitely going back.

I sat by myself outside :) Loved it Got the matcha cheesecake and matcha mango drink and both were very good! (Wouldn’t come in a larger group as there is limited seating) Getting to watch the train pass as you sit and enjoy your food/drink is always a bonus in my book. Although I didn’t sit inside this time, I would love to next time as it felt modern in a way that incorporates natural aspects as well in terms of interior design. Very stylish, will definitely come back!

A hidden gem The guys at ACTUAL KYOTO were super nice and welcoming, making some additional recommendations for us as we were cafe-hopping. We ordered the cheesecake sets - one basque and one hojicha and both were exceptional. The space, while small, is well thought out and designed very intentionally. Thanks guys for a great experience

We had their coffee latte, drip coffee, and a slice of Matcha Cheese Cake. For those who doesnt like something too sweet, their Coffee Latte might be one of the options. For the Cheese Cake, there was this salted-cream (I guess) that could balance the sweet flavor of its cheese cake. But overall, it’s worth it, although their second floor was a bit hot

A tiny groovy cafe right next to the tram line, Actual Kyoto only seats about 18 people, and it was obviously THE place to be at 3:00 on a Thursday afternoon. It was full, so we had to wait. The menu is extremely limited - cheesecake is the only food. There's choices of coffee, hot chocolate, and hoji tea soda but no hot tea. We had the Basque cheesecake- divine!!, hot chocolate - very nice, and the tea soda - also very refreshing. The decor is gorgeous - high ceilings (there's a mezzanine with one table), dark timber beams, a beaten-copper bench top, and lots of polished concrete and stainless steel. Mood lighting and tasteful floral touches finishes off this very elegant space. My take-away - don't go in mid-afternoon, be prepared to wait, just have a lovely coffee and cheesecake and soak in the 'oh-so-cool' ambience. I loved the tram going by just outside, and the service was great, too.
